PHILIPS LAUNCHES COMPREHENSIVE DIGITAL STARTER KIT – COMBINING DIGITAL DICTATION AND TRANSCRIPTION – COMPLETE WITH SLIDER-SWITCH!

“Vienna, Austria – Royal Philips Electronics (AEX: PHI, NYSE: PHG) announced today the launch of its Digital Starter Kit 9398 – a versatile out-of-the-box solution which merges high quality digital dictation technology with innovative transcription software and useful accessories. The powerful Digital Pocket Memo 9380 offers virtually unlimited recording capacity and crystal clear sound quality – operated by a slide-switch which provides easy transition from analogue to digital working. Meanwhile the Speech Exec Software streamlines the transcription process – and the kit also includes the recently released USB Foot Control 2330 featuring programmable controls for more convenient operation. The efficient Digital Pocket Memo 9380 is powered by the latest recording technology. It can be controlled easily with professional slider switch for single-handed use and ‘smart buttons’ for intuitive operation. A large backlit LCD shows important information such as the name of the author, the file name and the length of the dictation. An exchangeable SD card offers virtually unlimited recording capacity. The .dss file format is the international standard for professional speech processing and produces excellent sound quality with a high compression rate for less network traffic and storage capacity. The system allows for the automatic download of completed files to a PC via a USB cable, where they can be stored or subsequently transcribed or archived. With the easy-to-use dictation and transcription software Speech Exec, users can efficiently manage transcription jobs by displaying all relevant information such as priority settings and each file’s transcription status. The intuitive user interface makes file processing simple and files can be automatically transferred via a network. With improved ergonomics in mind, Philips has given the pedal of the USB Foot Control 2330 a newly developed distinctive ergonomic shape which allows for blind operation. Transcriptionists can stop and start dictations with only a slight movement of the heel, which reduces physical strain to a minimum. An additional fourth pedal for finishing a transcription job and individually programmable controls increase efficiency and make the device a pleasure to work with.”
