Don’t Lose Your Business Cards!

We all know by now that at the centre of a successful business is the effective organisation of time, space and ideas. We’ve each been there, struggled to work with an unorganised heap of mess, a desk without desk space, drawers so full you can barely shut them. When you work this way, can you ever find what it is you’re looking for, or at least can you ever find it within reasonable time? It’s that frustrating feeling of “I only saw it a couple of days ago, where has it gone?” It really is impossible to work this way, nothing gets done and you must endure a permanent feeling of being flustered and disorientated! You know that its easily resolved, you just keep putting off finding that moment to do it…well now’s that time!

First of all make a bin it pile, archive it pile, desktop file it pile, stationery pile, and so on. Discard of the rubbish, recycle it if you can. Starting with a completely clear desk and drawers you can now start as you mean to go on. Fill your top drawer with stationery items; hole punch, stapler, staples, repositionable notes, correction fluid, sticky tape, highlighters and so on. Use the drawers below to file paperwork, maybe for example recently dealt with accounts? Purchase a desktop letter tray for paperwork you are currently dealing with and file anything ancient into the filing cabinet. Purchase a desk tidy for all your commonly used stationery; pens and pencils, and acquire yourself a business card organiser!

There’s no doubting the fact that if you work for a business, you gather quite a collection of business cards, however without a place to store them, you can never find that contact when you need them. Whenever you are given a card, bring it back to the office and file it! Just think, for every potential client you meet, every supplier and every partner in business or associate, you will be given a card. Find the perfect way to organise those card and have them sitting on your desktop for quick reference.

Too Many Business Cards?

Business cards; whether you’re an individual or a business we’re all overwhelmed with them. Granted, they’re a great concept and a fantastic way to advertise your business or service. They’re also convenient for the recipient; all those times you’re caught out on the spot needing a plumber, electrician, or general handyman, a web designer, a gardener even – and then you remember, you’re friend gave you their partners business card or that decorator who came out last year left you a business card for contact number reference should you need them in the future. Now you’re so glad you kept it, it certainly saves you the time of trolling the internet for numbers or digging out the yellow pages (and the reading glasses!).

However, it’s all very well having all these business cards, but where do you keep them all? Personally I find them in drawers all over my house, in the bottom of my handbag, weighing down the magnets on my fridge (which is annoying as they keep falling off!), in various jean pockets, on shelves around the house; everywhere! The most annoying thing of all however, is being unable to find the one you’re looking for when you need it.

This is where business card books come in handy! When you have too many business cards, more than you know what to do with; it’s about time you found an appropriate method of storing them all! Take a look at our Durable Visifix Business Card Album featured to your right.

The Perfect Way To Store Your Business Cards

Most people are able to say that they have gathered a large collection of business cards over the years, however if you work in business your collection will be rather substantial! For every potential client you meet, every supplier and every partner in business or associate, you will acquire a card. These are not disposable items, in fact they are quite the opposite proving extremely useful when you least expect it! The problem is, as we all have so many of them, we tend to lose them or find it difficult to find the one we’re looking for among the mounds that we have. Many people have ‘rotary files’ which are useful desktop wheels featuring many pockets for your business cards. These are great for some, but others find it easier when all their cards are laid out in front of them, clear to see.

Business card books hold large quantities of cards in a normal book or album format. They contain sleeves which each have numerous pockets to store your collection of card so that all you have to do is turn the pages to find the contact you’re after. Many people use their business card books to store their cards alphabetically making the search easier again.

A fantastic example of a useful business card book is the Concord CD5 PVC Business Card Book featured below. With 27% off (as of the 07/10/2011) you can grab yourself a real bargain which boasts many useful additions;

  • Black padded PVC loose-leaf business card book
  • White A-Z index with clear Mylar reinforced tabs and punch holes for durability and clear plastic card holder sheets
  • Index can be used for recording written details of contacts where business card is not available
  • Additional card holders available
  • Capacity: 224 cards
  • Black
  • Size: 292 x 279mm
  • Just £35.22!

Thanks to its binder mechanism, pages can be added to the binder easily should it become full, and likewise should it look a little empty and sorry for its self, you can also remove sheets. The A-Z index completes this useful book making it the optimum organisational business card book on the market.

The Green Bit

Concords policy is, as far as is reasonably practical,

  • To promote the use of “environmentally friendly” materials
  • To use only registered waste specialists to collect and process wastes
  • To promote the recycling of wastes
  • To purchase paper from mills that:
    • Use wood pulp from a renewable source
    • Recycle internal waste materials
    • Remove all effluent from water before discharge and
    • Do not use chlorine in the paper production process
    • To review this policy, and the way in which it is operated, every year and to keep it up to date, particularly as the business changes in nature and size.
