A Sensitive Salter Scale

Salter Brecknell Ltd LogoMany companies look to purchase a scale as a way to increase mailing efficiency while reducing costs and time spent waiting in line at the post office. There are two options to choose from: Manual and electronic or digital. Manual scales are cheaper than electronic scales, but have a greater risk of human error.

Why not consider buying a digital postal scale. Not only are these more accurate than manual ones, but they also come preprogrammed with postal rate information, so you don’t need to do the math yourself. When postal rates change, you can simply adjust the prices. When considering which postal scale to buy, there are a few other things to keep in mind. If you will be mailing a lot of oversized packages, you need a postal scale with a large weighing platform and a weight capacity of more than 2 lbs (0.9 kg). If you plan to use it mainly for envelopes, then a smaller model might suit your needs. Conversions between kilograms and pounds can be found here.

The Salter WS Electronic Parcel Scale offers the user a competitively priced bench scale with 1:3000 resolution – giving  120 kg x 50 g performance, incorporating four full load bridge load cells, with self-levelling feet. The tough low profile platform has a brushed stainless steel top for ease of cleaning and a generous platform size. It is mounted on four anti-slip rubber feet. 800 mm of cable connects the platform to the brushed stainless steel display pod which features clear 17 mm high LCD digits. A plastic display pod bracket is included to allow the display to be wall or bench mounted. The key display features are on/off; push button tare to enable weights of empty containers to be removed and net weight only displayed; kg / lb switching to give readings in either metric or imperial measures and hold which allows the weight to be frozen, even when the package is removed. The scale also features auto zero tracking to automatically compensate for small fluctuations in zero such as a build up of material on the platform. To extend battery life an auto-off feature is standard, with the scale switching itself off after 2 minutes of inactivity.
