Bubble Wrap – My Saviour!!

Having just gone through about the most stressful move I can remember, (and I’ve moved house 16 times‼) due to a huge flood in the new property postponing the move for a month, (which as it happens should have postponed it longer as the house is STILL WET) after we were packed and ready to go, whilst having to fight the school admissions system to get my children into a good school, the entire reason for the move, after breaking the huge wing mirror off the removal van incurring huge costs, and dealing with NUMEROUS workmen in the new house which has been ongoing for 6 weeks (and still is!), whilst maintaining full time work and two children single handed; I am telling you now…I would have been so much worse off without bubble wrap! Now THAT is a statement!

Despite the fact that friends and family rallied together for me gathering newspaper and boxes, I still found myself desperately in need of a protective, wrapping material that would work that little bit better! I have a lot of ‘stuff’; china, crockery, ornaments, picture frames, mirrors, children’s toys etc, and I knew that newspaper just wouldn’t be up to the job, besides, the time needed to wrap these things in enough newspaper to protect them I just didn’t have! So of course the only option was to acquire bubble wrap rolls, and what better place to turn to than the stationery supply company I write for?! Problem solved, cheap as chips, next day delivery and BAM, I have everything I need to wrap quickly and effectively!

Having made it to the other side (without any breakages – well, not to the items wrapped in bubble wrap anyway…should have thought of that with the wing mirror!), with so many hiccups along the way, I can safely say that I’ve managed it without developing a nervous twitch. Having said this, if I’d had to struggle on without bubble wrap, I don’t think I’d be able to say this to you! I am certain that there would have been damages had I not used the bubble wrap, and the additional time it would have taken me to use newspaper instead would have meant that I just couldn’t have maintained a decent enough work/life balance and my poor kiddie winkles would have ended up with Pot Noodles for dinner every day, which is never good!

Here at Office 365 we have a HUGE selection of bubble wrap, not just the mentioned rolls, but also bubble wrap pouches too which are perfect for mailing delicate items! So come on over and check out our prices; if you find them cheaper anywhere else, we’ll match it! What’s more, if you like to order in bulk, we’ll offer you a discount. Interesting Uses For Bubble Wrap Rolls

We’ve all by now heard of the famous Bubble Wrap! Found in most homes, offices, shops and delivery vans across the globe. This unique and irreplaceable packaging material was discovered quite by accident and due to its flexibility, can be used to wrap all kinds of small, large and oddly shaped items for storage or transportation.

Bubble Wrap History

Bubble Wrap was invented by two men named Alfred Fielding and Marc Chavannes back in 1957. They were in fact trying to make plastic wallpaper, however their idea was a complete failure.  In spite of this so called catastrophe, the pair did in fact create a success which would soon become a household name known across the globe. Their disappointing wallpaper actually turned out to be a fantastic packaging aid – Bubble Wrap. Sealed Air Corp. was co-founded by Fielding in 1960, and today they are still a major Bubble Wrap manufacturer.

Featured to the right is our Flexocare Bubble Film (600mm x 5m) which is a specialty bubble film that has a anti-scratch inner and a write-on outer. This triple laminate bubble wrap is made using over 50% recycled materials and is just £6.91! Other than its obvious use for packing and mailing items, bubble wrap rolls are also a very useful tool for various other tasks:

  • Stress Reliever – Many claim that popping the bubbles in bubble wrap is very therapeutic; when each bubble pops with pressure, it gives a satisfying ‘pop’. In fact, we love bubble wrap so much that it has even been given its own appreciation day, celebrated on the last Monday in January!
  • Insulation – Bubble Wrap can even be used to line the glass on your windows – a proven effective method of insulation!
  • Dress Making – Yes, it has been done!
  • Lining Salad Crisper – By lining the salad crispers in your fridge, your fruit and vegetables will keep fresh for longer. The air pockets cushion the drawer preventing your food from becoming bruised. This method can also save on cleaning!
  • Protecting Windshields From Frost – Be prepared on a wintery evening and tape bubble wrap to your windshield, this way when you wake up in the morning, you won’t have to scrape all the ice or snow off!

Packing Presents For Christmas

We’re nearly there now, just 2 weeks to go before the magical day itself. But as my parents say, ‘Christmas doesn’t just happen you know’. It’s not just ‘Santa’ who puts those pressies under the tree (as I’m sure you all know); a lot of hard work goes into choosing those presents, finding the time to do so and of course wrapping them all up! Now I know it’s not all about the presents. In my house, that’s just the start of it; it’s the whole day itself, in fact the week before and the week after it too. Presents are just our way of showing love, appreciation and a fantastic way to start the Christmas day fun!!

With 2 weeks left, most of us (aside from myself *cringe*) will have pretty much finished the Christmas shopping and will just be left with a mountain of gifts to lovingly (or hurriedly) wrap. You will need to get organised and prepare yourself with plenty of packaging materials. Think – disguising obvious presents, think – protecting breakables, think – wrapping to perfection. Office 365 are your one stop shop for office and stationery supplies, but also exceed expectations when it comes to Christmas present wrapping materials too! One of the most important tools in the art of wrapping is of course sticky tape – you’d be surprised at how many people forget this useful household treasure. We have a huge selection of different sized boxes for disguising and protecting and for wrapping your items to perfection. For those extremely breakable items, don’t let them be ruined before they’ve even been opened, take a look at our bubble wrap supplies. A fantastic tip which comes in useful for me year after year is to keep your Christmas cards. That way, when it comes to gift tags, all you have to do is cut of the front of last year’s cards and apply tape or string so that they can be fastened to the present. Brilliant – simply write on the reverse. Lastly but not at all least, is wrapping paper. Go for the traditional look and let the labels do the work. Our selection of strong kraft paper is perfect for present wrapping, adding a touch of olden day charm and class to the stack under your tree. Either fasten with string & twine so that they recipient can re-use the paper, or if you’re in a hurry, stick it.

We’re not just here to provide our homes and businesses with office supplies; our range of stationery supplies is increasing by the day to incorporate more and more everyday items that we all could use.

Use Bubble Wrap Insulation This Winter

Temperatures across the UK have plummeted these past couple of weeks with readings well below 0°C during day time hours. With two jumpers, socks, slippers and scarves on and even with the heating on continuous, our homes are freeeeezing! Living in a rural spot, unfortunately for me, they’ve not heard of mains gas over here – so no gas central heating! Our homes are kept warm with oil central heating, so each house has a tank filled with oil. With minimum monthly payments of £80, this really isn’t cheap and during the winter months you can be sure to use over half the tank! We need to be looking for more economical ways of keeping our houses warm and Office 365 may have found the answer you’ve been looking for – bubble wrap!

Bubble wrap insulation is the perfect, environmentally friendly and cheap option for keeping your houses and homes warm. It is a simple technique used to insulate your windows and is often seen used to insulate greenhouse windows in the winter. But why restrict such a simple and effective method of retaining warmth to just our out buildings? The method works for all windows; single or double glazed, sash or bay; it works for windows of irregular shape, making it the most cost effective solution available.

  • Step One - Cut the bubble wrap to the size of the window pane, this can be done with scissors.
  • Step Two – Using a spritz bottle; spray a film of water on the window pane.
  • Step Three - Apply the bubble wrap to the window while it is still wet and press it into place. Make sure the bubble side goes toward the glass.
  • Step Four - For difficult windows, a few small pieces of double back tape can be helpful.

If you apply the bubble wrap in the autumn it will see you through to the spring easy, and can even be saved to use again and again for the following years. Bubble wrap insulation cuts the heat loss from the window in half. Get your hands on some surprisingly multipurpose bubble wrap here at Office 365.

Bubble Wrap Week : The Bubble Wrap Dress

Are you one of those who like to stand out from the crowd? Maybe your sick of being predictable and are looking for a way prove that you’re not exactly who everyone thinks you are. Or maybe your economically conscious and are looking for a way to make a stand and be heard, to change our planet for the better. Alternatively, you could just be a bit strange…

If any of the above applies to you, consider this….a bubble wrap dress (or suite, it’s your call). There could be no easier way of putting together clothing than this and we’d like to offer up some handy hints to help you along the way. You will need;

The first rule of dressmaking with bubble wrap is NEVER USE A SEWING MACHINE. Don’t risk jamming your machine – use a good old fashioned needle and thread or alternatively try using poppers or hook and eye fastenings; you could even try lace up in a kind of corset style.

Find appropriate under garments. If you are making a dress, think about using a white ‘slip’ or bikini. If you are making a suite, appropriate ‘under attire’ may include white shorts, vests, t-shirts or swimwear.  Alternatively sew some kind of material to the inside of your bubble suite/dress in order to conceal certain ‘areas’.

Another method of stitching your garment is by staple; when you consider it, a staple isn´t that different to a stitch. A rushed job when using staples can look distasteful, take your time. We have a huge selection of recycled bubble wrap at Office 365 which is turn is also recyclable once your done! Our Jiffy range promises to be made from 100% recycled polythene so you can be satisfied that your dress is as kind to the earth as you are!

The Green Bit

In developing Jiffy Green mailing solutions, Pregis looked closely on how to combine everything you’d expect from their top brand products with the environmental awareness society needs. All Jiffy Green mailing products meet joint standards and are made of recycled paper, recycled air bubble foil and are in their turn recyclable themselves. Other mailing solutions consisting of different materials -like the Bag-in-Bag mailers – can be separated with the turn of the wrist, making recycling so much easier and more effective!
