We’ve all used the ever famous Post It notes throughout our lives at some stage, in fact many of us use them every single day, but is it any wonder with their many different uses and their unique properties? What makes a Post-it note so useful is its alternative adhesive which is strangely like no other! The Post-it note cane stick to any surface and remain there for numerous years, never leaving any residue once removed. What’s more, when you do remove it, you can re-apply it somewhere else as the non residue adhesive is also repositionable! So what are the different things we can use a Post It note for?

1. Many people have learned that a Post-it note will make an excellent book mark all out losing your place and it will not damage the book either. Having said this, please make sure that you do not apply it to damaged or very weak pages.
2. If you’ve been given an assignment to do it can help to mark the beginning and ending points for reading/studying.
3. Another fantastic implement when studying, you can mark the notes or glossary at the back of a book for easy repeated access.
4. You can store s few notes inside you diary or planner so that whenever you need to leave a note or a message, their right there.
5. Before you begin your day, make a ‘To Do List’ on a Post-it note so that you can refer to it in the morning and get a more rested sleep!
6. Use notes around the house as reminders.
7. When you’re all out of tape, worry not, you can always cut the sticky part off a Post-it note and use that as a temporary measure.
8. Cut the sticky part off the note and use it as an identity tag on food bags and cables; tape cannot be written on, sticky notes can!
9. Use a Post-it note to make a shopping list or even a weekly menu and then stick it to your fridge. You can then stick this note to your purse at the supermarket for reference during shopping – hands free shopping!

13. Use Post-it notes for teaching languages. Stick notes on objects with the objects name written on the note, i.e. stick a Post-it note on a cup reading “cup”.

Some say that the prestigious Post-it Note was a ‘god send’, but they don’t know how right they are. Back in the early 70’s Art Fry, an employee or 3M was on a mission to find a bookmark for his church hymnal that wouldn’t fall out yet would also not damage the pages. A colleague of Fry’s, Dr Spencer Silver, had already developed an adhesive in 1968 which was strong enough to stick to surfaces, however didn’t leave any nasty residue once removed. This adhesive was also capable of being re-positioned time and time again. Mr Fry decided to apply the adhesive to the edge of a piece of paper and use this for his church hymnal bookmark. His problem was solved and he later went on to develop the idea further in the form of what we now know as Post-it notes.

It’s not easy to keep your staff happy and working to the best of their ability. One of the best ways to keep your office motivated is to take part in seasonal celebrations. Let’s face it; it’s not easy going into work over the Christmas season and as Christmas day draws nearer and nearer, we all tend to want to be with our families and friends celebrating. However if you bring a little Christmas into the office, your staff we feel as though they are celebrating the moment too. Have you ever worked in an office where the decorations where adequate for such an occasion? More often than not, offices are decorated with very little in the way of holiday decorations; however we can help you make a tree which will be sure to impress even the most demanding of Christmas enthusiasts.

You Will Need

• Christmas tree – artificial is best
• Paper clips
• Various other office supplies
• CD’s
• Shredded Paper

Firstly you will need to put together your tree using the instructions provided. Remember, the best time to add lights on any Christmas tree is now. It is pretty much impossible to add lights in an effective way when you have already loaded the tree with decorations.

Next you will need to decide on an object to go on top of the tree which is symbolic to your office, some kind of mascot maybe. This would have been hopeless in the case of one of my previous jobs; our office mascot was my 2 year old daughter! Take a look around the office, maybe there’s a teddy that you all believe brings you luck, a stapler which has been lost and found a ridiculous amount of times and has become some kind of a joke, or maybe there’s a giant rubber band ball which everyone has been adding too. Whatever seems appropriate for your office, use it. You may need to use paper clips to help secure your object to the top of the tree.

Your next stage would be to decorate your tree with a tinsel substitute, remember, this is an office Christmas tree. You could link paper clips to make shiny silver chains or join CD’s using rubber bands to make a giant shiny length of tinsel. Alternatively, cut sticky strips from Post-it Notes to make paper chains (this works best with various different coloured Post-it Notes). Drape your tinsel substitutes around the tree making sure to evenly cover the tree.

Using paper clips or tape, hang various office products from your tree as bauble substitutes. Use items such as staple removers, pens, staple strips, rubber stamps, glue sticks, you get the idea. You could even go all out there and throw on some shredded paper or hole punch confetti as artificial snow.

Last but not least stick some pressies under the tree. Maybe you could organise some kind of secret Santa where everyone picks a name out of a hat and buys a present (up to a certain value) for that person. Your tree is now complete – enjoy!

I have just seen possibly the best desk organisational tool ever! It is such a great idea and kicks the old desk cup into touch!
