The Green Bit
Numatic International Ltd is fully committed to managing and improving its environmental performance, by assessing all of their operations and products to gauge their impact on the environment. They implement measures to minimise or eliminate negative impacts and strengthen positive effects. An environmental management system is used to help achieve and ensure that they comply with environmental regulations. Numatic International Ltd engages with its suppliers, where appropriate, to assist in continually improving their environmental performance and reduce their total impact, for example by maximising recycling and improving energy efficiency.
Numatic International can be justly proud of its contribution to the environment on a worldwide basis. They have produced for 30 years a range of commercial cleaning equipment, each and every item of which is used in the daily improvement of the conditions in which we all live and work. As a company they are fully committed to environmental improvements and, as such, they are adopting, are implementing and will annually review the following policy;
- To comply with all relevant environmental legislation, and with other requirements to which it may subscribe.
- To assess all areas of its operations with respect to its impact on the environment and incorporate those practicable procedures and controls necessary to prevent environmental damage and pollution.
- The company will ensure that all staff are kept aware of this policy, and their individual environmental responsibilities through an appropriate programme of training and awareness enhancement.
In order to achieve these objectives, it is the policy of Numatic International Ltd to establish and maintain an effective environmental management system based on the requirements of BS EN ISO 14001:2004. Electrical products designed and manufactured by Numatic International Ltd, and sold into the European market are all covered by the EU Electrical and Electronic Equipment Waste Directive (WEEE). The aims of the directive are to minimise the amount of material entering this waste stream, and to provide funding for treatment facilities in order to maximise recovery and recycling. Electrical products designed and manufactured by Numatic International Ltd, and sold into the European market are all covered by the EU Restriction of selective Hazardous Substances Directive (RoHS). This directive strictly limits the amounts of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chrome, and flame retardants PBBE and PBDE, that can be present in their products. Numatic Internationals design policy over some years has been to minimise their dependence on the use of materials containing these substances, so reducing the amount of effort needed to ensure RoHS compliance. Nevertheless, a comprehensive programme was undertaken to ensure compliance. This involved obtaining clear compliance declarations from their material and component suppliers, and where there was doubt over declaration accuracy or integrity, or perceived higher risk from the material type, then testing was conducted to verify compliance.
The company take pride from the knowledge that they have a reputation for manufacturing reliable, robust and long lasting professional cleaning products.
