They use well sourced fragrances to create their air care systems leaving the buyer safe in the knowledge that they are buying an exquisite product. In fact, these fragrances use rare and intense oils from all over the world and are made from the finest top, middle and base notes. Their line of fragrances also contains Microtrans, which are used to neutralise the malodour, leaving you with a clean, fresh scent.

Their most popular range is the Microburst® system collection which provides the best value for money, odour neutralising products available today. In fact you may be pleased to know that Microburst® refills distribute three times the power-per-ounce of traditional aerosols and provide full strength odour control? This is due to the micro-molecules in the Microburst® spray which provide greater coverage and inevitably the longest-lasting odour neutralising and fragrancing capabilities, yet with less propellant. Our selection of TCI Odour Control includes many options, our most popular being the TCI Duet selection and a huge selection of other TCI Air Fresheners.

How to Make Your Pins More Useful

5 Star LogoMap pins are a common tool which can be used to identify points and places on maps. Traditionally, they have a hexagonal head and are available in a variety of sizes including 15mm and 20mm. What makes these pins stand out and more useful than others like them, is the white panel that can be located in the top centre of the pin. This white panel can be written on which is useful when separate colours just isn’t enough.

To get the best out of your map, why not create some individual indicator pins yourself by following these simple steps.

Things You’ll Need

  1. You can use a pencil or dry erase marker to write on epoxy-coated map pins. Any marks that you make can later be erased leaving the pins as good as new ready to be reused.
  2. Alternatively, use a permanent marker or pen to write on the flat head of a map pin.
  3. When using map pins with a small window on the head, use a pen, pencil or marker to write on the paper insert. If you’d like to re-use your map pins at a later date for alternative groupings; use a pencil, then you can later erase the mark and reuse the paper insert.

Tips & Warnings

You will find that map pins with round heads impossible to write on directly. However, with the use of a small piece of paper, you can change your pin entirely to create an alternative indicator pin. Fold the paper over the pin and glue it to itself to create a flag. This can also be done by inserting the pin through the top and bottom of the left side of a small piece of paper. Your new flag can then be written on to label the pin. Alternatively, we do have readymade flag pins available at Office 365.

Take Care of Your Shredder

With identity fraud at an all time high, it has become crucial for every business and household to shred their personal documents and sensitive information. Identity fraud is a real threat to us all today, almost every week we hear of a story reaching the news that relates to the loss or misuse of personal information. It doesn’t matter who you are; it’s unsettling to know that your information is vulnerable and that it could happen to you. It is fundamentally imperative that we all take steps to protect ourselves and those around us. Once your identity has been stolen, that criminal can live a life under your name, ruin your credit scoring and ultimately damage your reputation. They may even commit fraud or other crimes in your identity and potentially this will affect every aspect of your life. With around 4.4 million victims in the UK and Ireland alone, the chances are you will know someone who has been affected.

We are all aware that thieves cannot steal what they cannot read and for this reason the only reasonable step we can take is to completely dispose of personal and confidential information so that it doesn’t end up in the wrong hands. Experts agree that shredding is the best way to dispose of sensitive information and at Office 365 we have quite a few.

To prolong the use of these vital tools, paper shredders need to be maintained. We have some hints here which will help you save money in doing so. Ignoring the simple steps can cost you greatly in new parts, labour and even a new shredder. Shredder oil need only be used every 3 or 4 uses when shredding paper, however you must take great care to follow these steps, otherwise you may end up using the entire bottle within just a week!

  1. To avoid paper jams in your shredder, avoid shredding objects that might cause a jam. These could include staples, paper clips and tape. Check the paper you are shredding to make sure that it’s nice and flat so it will be easy to shred. Creased or folded paper can often be difficult to shred.
  2. When you’ve removed any objects which may cause a jam, divide the paper you wish to shred into smaller sections. Your paper shredder should state its capacity somewhere on the side, or refer to the manual. If you are unable to locate this information, don’t take the risk. Shred small amounts and always shred less than the recommended value. If your machine has a limit of 20, we recommend that you shred no more than 15 sheets. Be kind to your shredder and it will be kind to you.
  3. When you have finished shredding your paper, always empty the basket. This step is often forgotten and can result in the paper working its way back up into the shredder engine, jamming your machine. Shredder sacks can come in very useful when collecting your shredded paper.
  4. To avoid paper jams in your shredder, you should oil it after every 3-4 uses. Shredder oil is available in both oil bottle and oil sheet formats and can be found here at Office 365. Without the use of this oil, small pieces of paper can become lodged in the machine resulting in friction which inevitable will cause a paper jam. Oiling your shredder regularly will ensure that the paper slides right to the blades and doesn’t get stuck on its way out.

Eco Friendly Corrugated Paper Rolls

Ambassador LogoCorrugated paper is an economical and useful way to package and protect breakable items for storage and for shipping. We are proud to say that our selection of corrugated paper rolls are made from 100% recycled material and can also be fully recycled at the end of their usable life. Our selection is specifically single faced corrugated rolls which are ideal for covering, protecting and wrapping all sizes of products whether very long or smaller, irregular shapes. The material can be formed around the shape of an item giving optimum protection and cushioning to prevent any damage or breakages.

What’s more, when compared with other packaging used to protect breakable items, like for example polystyrene or other petroleum-derived materials; corrugated board is completely environmentally friendly. It is 100% recyclable and is eventually biodegradable with a staggering 70% of the board produced each year, made entirely from recycled fibres. Corrugated paper rolls are not made from paper which is derived from tropical forest hardwoods; this type of wood would be entirely unsuitable for the process. The industry uses sustainable, fast-growing softwoods, which are being replanted faster than we are using them!

The structure of our single faced corrugated paper consists of one ply of fluted paper, onto which paper or cardboard is glued; take a look at the diagram below.

Our range of corrugated paper is made by the prestigious Ambassador packing brand, long established as a leading supplier of protective packaging products to customers throughout the United Kingdom. Our Ambassador corrugated paper is available with at least 24% off (while stocks last) and is a versatile packaging solution made from 100% recycled materials and is 100% recyclable itself. Available in 650mm and 900mm widths and in lengths of 75m, you’ll have a solution for every packaging demand.

What Does DL Stand For In Envelope Sizes

As boring as envelope sizes may seem as a topic, many people have un answered questions relating to this. We’ve explained envelope sizes to you on a number of occasions and have even given you some examples of uses for these different sizes, however we’ve not explained where they get there individual names from. Most envelopes fall into the C series, which is defined by ISO 216 and are given names such as C4 (one of the more popular sizes), C5, C6 and so on (sizes range from C0 to C10).

However one of the most widely used business envelopes is the DL envelope who’s format does not fall under the C series sizes, this is because it has a different aspect ratio. To understand further about where DL envelopes originated from and what exactly DL stands for we have done a little research into the subject. The DL envelope came from Germany back in the 1920′s and was then known as DIN Lang. However we now understand the abbreviation to stand for ‘Dimension Lengthwise’. The size is included and defined in the ISO standards for envelope sizes, as the standard would have been negligent in excluding the most commonly used business envelope size.

Interestingly, automatic enveloping machine manufacturers have complained that the DL size is slightly too small for reliable enveloping. The C6/5 envelope was later introduced measuring 114 x 229 mm, however the original DL size remains the most commonly used. It is considered the most professional way to mail a business document. An A4 sheet of paper must be folded into 3 equal sections parallel to its shortest sides, so that it can fit into this sized envelope. Its dimensions are 110 x 220 mm (4⅓” x 8⅔”). For further information into envelope sizes, take a look at PaperSizes.org.

Office File Storage From a Winning Brand

bisley_logoOrganisation in the office is hopeless without any storage facilities. You couldn’t possibly hang enough sturdy shelves to support all your files and folders, plus this sort of system can look cluttered, busy and untidy. At Office 365 we recommend using a tall, solid cupboard as this would house all your untidy filing behind closed doors. But who else would we turn to for a product such as this other than Bisley? With storage and filing at the forefront of their minds, Bisley are the obvious choice. In fact Bisley are world renowned for their quality steel office storage systems, employing the most advanced manufacturing processes from in-house tool making and computer aided design through to precision folding, laser cutting, fully-automated powder paint plant machinery.

Take a look at our Bisley Tambour Cupboards featured to your right. I asked my daughter to take a look at these and tell me Bisley Tambour Cupboardwhat she thought. In her words, “this is a magnificent cupboard which would store almost anything and would look great in every home or office”; wise words for a 9 year old, as this is pretty much what our customers have thought upon purchase. These cupboards have received some fantastic feedback, but is this any wonder when their made by Bisley! Key features include;

  • Bisley A4 EuroTambour
  • Designed specifically for the increasingly popular A4 format, this new system has a smaller footprint than other tambour door cupboards
  • Available in silver with a choice of either silver or beech tambours
  • Unit comes complete with four shelves for the tall cupboard, or two shelves for the low cupboard
  • Tall unit measures: WxDxH: 1000 x 430 x 1980mm
  • Low unit measures: WxDxH: 1000 x 430 x 1030mm
  • Silver/Beech

How about accessorising your cupboard with the Bisley Rollout Filing Framedesigned specifically to enhance your Tambour cupboard. Alternatively, upgrade your cupboard with an extra shelf with filing rail, also designed to work in harmony with this range of cupboards. Designed to perfection, these cupboards far exceed the quality of others on the market. Did you know that Bisley even made it into our ‘Top 6 Suppliers’ list and made it into 2nd place? Their key products feature anti-tilt mechanisms and fully welded carcases so there is no need for bolts or rivets which in turn creates greater strength, durability and a cleaner line. Clearly Bisley deserve this title and what’s more, they’re green!

The Green Bit

Bisley realise that all manufacturing has some effect on the environment and it is their policy to make themselves aware of this and to conduct their business in ways designed to reduce adverse effects and maximise favourable ones. They are signatories to the environment policy statement issued by OFMA (Office Furniture and Filing Manufactures Association) and endorse the policies they keep. Plus, they have recently attained a Fira Club Green and club 18001 membership.

Bisley’s capital investment in plant and machinery has had a major impact on the efficient production of their products; state of the art machinery has reduced waste, improved quality and increased safety. All steel off-cuts and other scrap metal is recycled and manufacturing waste bi-products disposed of by licensed contractors. They have consistently received safety awards from the British Safety Council.

Bisley’s environmental objectives are as follows;

  • Reduce stack emissions
  • Reduce waste from production processes
  • Conserve energy
  • Recycle waste and other products wherever possible
  • Raise suppliers awareness of the environmental impact throughout the supply chain
  • Minimise nuisance and disturbance to their neighbours

How to Restore Your Scissors

5 Star Logo

All scissors, whether used in homes, kitchens, schools or offices can take one heck of a beating over the course of day and soon become dull and useless. When used regularly a pair of scissors can become unusable within a matter of just months. Did you know that paper can be one of the worst things to dull scissors? Instead of throwing them out like many do, why not save yourself the pennies and restore your scissors to their former glory. They may seem to cost very little to replace, however when you think about how many pairs you have actually worked your way through, it soon adds up! The solution is so simple and accessible, anyone could do it! By using aluminium foil, you can quickly and efficiently bring your scissors back to life. By using products that can be found in every kitchen cupboard, this is a rather easy fix and will not require you to spend your money or much of your time.

  1. Tear off approximately six inches of aluminium foil and fold
  2. As if you where making a fan, fold over the piece of foil several times until it is thick.
  3. With your blunt scissors, cut along the longest edge of the foil several times. If the tip of the scissors needs sharpening, simply snip the foil with the tip of the scissors. Test your scissors on a piece of paper and repeat if necessary. You will soon have a satisfyingly sharp (and dangerous) pair of scissors!

Helpful Hints & Warning!

If after several attempts your scissors still seem dull, repeat the steps again or take your stubborn scissors to be sharpened by a professional. Alternatively take a look at our discounted 5 Star range of quality scissors from as little as £0.32p!

Use different scissors for different tasks. For example keep one pair for paper cutting, one pair for crafts or sewing and another for in the kitchen.

When using scissors, BE CAREFULL, they can cut fingers!

Be The Entertainer With Our Office Magic

Take the pinch off a monotonous 9-5 job and liven things up a little. All you need is enough party tricks up your sleeve, the craving to be under the spotlight and a little charisma. We have a few simple corkers here that will amaze your co-workers, wow them through magical ability and leave them wanting more. Become the entertainer in your office with our ‘Rubber Band Magic Trick’. All you’ll need to carry this one out is 2 different-coloured rubber bands, manual agility and a perfected presentation.

  1. Choose two different coloured bands. Wrap one band around the index and middle fingers (index/middle band) on your right hand once and the other band around your ring and little fingers (ring/little band), also once. Please note that you can use any two colours for this trick, as long as they’re different from each other.
  2. Raise your hand so that your palm faces you. Use all four fingers of your left hand to pull the index/middle rubber band toward you.
  3. Reach underneath the index/middle band to grab the ring/little band. Pull both rubber bands together with your left hand.
  4. Close your right hand in a fist and stretch the portion of the rubber bands that you have pulled toward you around the closed fingers of your right hand.
  5. Announce to your audience that you are about to snap your fingers and make the rubber bands change places so that the index/middle rubber band will appear on the bottom around your ring and little fingers and the ring/little rubber band will move to your index and middle fingers.
  6. Dramatically snap the fingers of your left hand and open your right hand at the same time. Remember to practice well because if you have positioned the rubber bands correctly, they will now be reversed as if by magic!

Tips

When setting up, pull the rubber bands and place them into position quickly and subtly so that your audience will not guess that you are setting up the trick.

If for some reason you cannot get 2 different coloured rubber bands, draw a ring around one of them with a marker so that it can be distinguished from the other rubber band. However we do have a selection of different coloured bands here at Office 365, so take a peek at our prices first.
