The first form of communication between companies often comes in the form of a letter, and therefore the envelope you use is vital in portraying your company’s image, along with its stationery. Envelopes come in all manner of sizes, styles, thicknesses and colours. The most common envelope sizes are; C4, C5, C6 and DL and these correspond with the most common stationery sizes which are A4, A5, A6 and compliment slip size.

Envelopes come in several different sizes like stationery. Here is a small guide to help you work out what envelope you want to fit your stationary.

DL Envelope

DL envelopes hold an A4 sheet folded twice; into 3 parts. This is the most common size of envelope; with most offices sending out their branded stationery in this size letter. Whilst this is the most popular size it does involve folding your stationery in three whilst some people may prefer not to do this so may well be better off with the C4 or C5 sizes.

Royal Mail – Price Bands

This size envelope is classed as a small letter if…

It’s fewer than 100g and it’s less than 5mm thick.

The costs for a small letter are 32p First Class and 23p Second Class.

C6 Envelopes
